Franklin Police Arrest 3 Men in Facebook Marketplace Jewelry Robbery After Chase

Q: How did the armed robbers pinpoint the exact home address just from a Facebook Marketplace jewelry listing?

Police have not publicly explained exactly how the suspects got the precise address. The reporting only says investigators determined the home was targeted because jewelry had been advertised on Facebook Marketplace. In cases like this, the address is usually obtained through the normal Marketplace transaction process rather than from the public listing alone. Sellers often share their home address in Messenger when arranging pickup, or a buyer can learn it after a conversation about where to meet. Marketplace listings also show a location area, such as a city or neighborhood, which can help narrow the target before direct contact. The additional material supports that risk. Guidance on how Facebook Marketplace works notes that sellers provide a location for listings and then typically finalize pickup details through direct messages. That means the suspects may have posed as interested buyers, contacted the seller, and received the address during meetup arrangements. So the key point is that there is no public evidence the robbers somehow extracted the exact address from the listing page itself. Based on what authorities released, the safer reading is that the online jewelry ad led them to the victim and the exact address was likely shared during the attempted sale or otherwise revealed in the course of the Marketplace exchange. That is also why police emphasized not meeting strangers at home and instead using public places or police safe-exchange zones.

Q: What critical evidence were the fleeing suspects desperately trying to tamper with before their high-speed crash?

It has not been publicly disclosed what specific evidence the suspects allegedly tried to tamper with before the pursuit ended in a crash. Based on the reporting available, Franklin police said only that the three men were charged with tampering with evidence, along with aggravated robbery and felony evading, after the Facebook Marketplace jewelry-sale robbery. None of the cited accounts identifies the exact item or material involved. Given the armed robbery allegations, the evidence could have involved items such as the stolen jewelry, firearms, phones, or other physical evidence inside the vehicle, but that remains unconfirmed. Until police release charging affidavits, arrest warrants, or court records with more detail, the critical evidence they were allegedly trying to alter or discard is unknown.
