Summary
New Nvidia comparison shots show DLSS 5 has been significantly softened ahead of Hogwarts Legacy’s November 5 launch, with facial and environmental changes now far subtler than in the company’s earlier demos.
More than six months after backlash over altered faces in Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil Requiem, Nvidia is again stressing that developers retain “detailed artistic control” over how DLSS 5 is implemented.
An October neural-rendering update is also aimed at the performance cost: Nvidia says DLSS 5 should run twice as fast on RTX 50-series GPUs and upcoming RTX Spark laptops.
That model cuts the footprint 24% to about 118 million parameters and lowers 4K VRAM use 20%; it debuts first in NBA 2K27 on October 16 before becoming the default for future DLSS 5 games.
Separately, Nvidia’s new app beta adds a faster Frame Generation mode for RTX 40- and 50-series GPUs, promising up to 35% more speed with minor image-quality trade-offs.
