Summary
$149 HomePod Mini 2 opens for preorder now and reaches stores on Oct. 30, giving Apple a refreshed entry in smart speakers after Amazon and Google updates.
S10 powers real-time music analysis, while Siri AI will arrive in a later update and is limited to the Mini 2 after Apple corrected earlier suggestions about older HomePod support.
Apple says the AI will use iPhone context to handle more personalized requests, such as finding songs from past messages or pulling recipes from email into shopping lists.
Audio hardware includes a full-range driver, dual passive radiators and support for linking up to four speakers, though Apple highlighted software tuning more than major physical sound changes.
The launch keeps Apple in the lower-priced Mini line, but the new model costs nearly $50 more than the previous HomePod Mini and still omits named support for Spotify and Tidal.
