Broncos, Seahawks Revive 1977 and 1990s Throwbacks for Week 6 TNF

Q: Can an undefeated retro uniform streak magically fix Denver's struggling offense on Thursday night?

No. The 5-0 streak in Denver’s “Orange Crush” throwbacks is a fun talking point, but it does not solve the Broncos’ underlying offensive issues against a defense like Seattle’s. Denver enters Thursday ranked near the bottom of the league offensively, at 26th in scoring and 30th in total yards. Bo Nix has been uneven through five games, with his passer rating down to 80.8 and his yards per attempt at 5.8. Even after Sean Payton took back play-calling duties, the Broncos managed only 224 total yards against the Chargers and went 1-for-12 on third down. Their pressure problems remain significant, with Nix facing heat on more than 40% of dropbacks. That is a bad profile against Seattle. The Seahawks arrive with the NFL’s top total defense and top pass defense through five weeks, and many analysts are picking them because Denver has not shown it can move the ball consistently against high-end units. Seattle also has enough defensive depth and pass rush to make another uncomfortable night for Nix likely. If Denver is going to buck that trend, it will need practical fixes, not uniform magic: a better run game, fewer negative plays, quicker decisions from Nix and more involvement from playmakers such as Courtland Sutton, J.K. Dobbins and Jaylen Waddle. The Broncos have shown late-game resilience and are 2-0 at home, so an upset is possible. But the throwback streak is symbolism, not a cure for an offense that still has to prove it can function for four full quarters.

Week 6 Thursday Night Football will feature both Denver and Seattle in throwback uniforms, turning the Broncos-Seahawks matchup into a league-promoted nostalgia showcase.
Denver will wear its 1977 "Orange Crush" look—orange jerseys, white pants and a legacy blue helmet with the hissing Bronco—and is 5-0 since reintroducing the set in 2024.
Seattle will use its 1990s royal blue throwbacks with silver helmet and pants, classic sleeve striping and a Kingdome detail inside the collar; the Seahawks are 4-3 in the set since 2023.
Elsewhere in Week 6, New Orleans will wear its all-white Color Rush uniform with the white helmet unveiled in 2025 against the Giants, while four teams—the Bengals, Lions, Dolphins and Vikings—are on bye.
