Summary
A Houthi strike damaged Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran on Tuesday, igniting a fire across several floors after days of missile and drone attacks on Saudi targets.
Saudi coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said attacks on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport from Oct. 7-11 killed 17 and injured 333, with the Oct. 10 strike involving 10 drones, missiles and other projectiles.
Tim Lenderking, the former U.S. envoy for Yemen, said the Houthis now operate with growing independence from Tehran, using homegrown capabilities, smuggling networks and black-market financing to sustain increasingly precise long-range attacks.
The group’s missiles and drones have reached Riyadh from more than 620 miles away, and Yemen’s government has accused the Houthis of seeking Chinese components for medium-range ballistic missiles through front companies.
Lenderking said the threat now extends beyond Yemen to Red Sea shipping and Saudi energy, pipeline and desalination infrastructure, raising the risk of wider regional conflict and disruption to global markets.
