Summary
Apple’s French regulatory site lists an unreleased iPad mini Smart Folio with model number A3632, a document dated Sept. 8, 2026 that appears to confirm a new accessory ahead of launch.
A new folio matters because Apple’s sixth- and seventh-generation iPad mini share the same case; a fresh model number suggests physical changes that could break compatibility with existing covers.
Apple’s filing shows the new folio has at least 3% recycled materials versus 9% in the current version and 6,610 milligrams of rare earth elements versus 3,947 milligrams, pointing to possible magnet changes.
The leak aligns with reports that Apple is preparing an OLED iPad mini later this month with an A20 Pro chip, thinner bezels, a moved front camera and redesigned speakers.
One key spec remains unsettled: reports conflict on whether the new tablet keeps a 60Hz OLED panel or adds 120Hz ProMotion, though Bloomberg says Apple tested both.
