Scarborough Rebukes Trump's 700-Patient Claims at Kansas Rally as Fact Checks Undercut Attacks

Summary
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said Donald Trump lied at a Kansas rally by falsely portraying Democratic Senate nominee Adam Hamilton and by wrongly claiming Sen. Roger Marshall was legally required to pursue unpaid medical bills.
The attack on Hamilton centered on immigration, religion and transgender issues, but a Kansas City Star fact check found he does not support open borders, and Hamilton recently said dangerous criminals should not remain in the country.
Trump also defended Marshall over his former OB-GYN practice, which a New York Times review found sued more than 700 former patients, sometimes over bills as low as $101 and with 18% annual interest.
In 81 of those cases, patients were arrested after missing court dates, undercutting Trump's claim that Marshall had been "mandated by law" to seek payment.
The clash adds scrutiny to a Kansas Senate race in which Hamilton, senior pastor of the nation's largest United Methodist congregation, is becoming a direct target of Trump's campaign messaging.
