Summary
Police arrested 19-year-old Alexander Michael Evanoff after accusing him of secretly recording a sexually explicit encounter with a UNC Charlotte student on Sept. 19 and sending the video to a fraternity group chat.
Three charges were filed—one count of disclosing private images and two felony secret-peeping counts—after investigators said he used his cellphone without the woman's consent and later distributed the clip.
Court records show Evanoff was taken into custody Monday and released Tuesday on $10,000 bond; an affidavit says he admitted recording the act intentionally and sending it to the 32-member Sigma Alpha Epsilon chat.
The woman later confronted him about whether sharing the video was meant to make him 'appear cool,' and police said he responded yes and apologized.
UNC Charlotte said Evanoff is not currently enrolled, calling the alleged conduct reprehensible and outside what it would tolerate from its campus community.
