Summary
Roger Goodell said the NFL would welcome an NFLPA investigation into how the Eagles handled Jalen Hurts' medical care after a blood clot was found in his calf on Oct. 10.
Goodell said league protocols were followed, echoing chief medical officer Allen Sills' defense of team doctors after criticism that Hurts was allowed to play in London and fly home.
The Eagles said Hurts was cleared by team staff and London doctors to face Jacksonville, but a follow-up ultrasound later showed the clot had moved.
On Monday, the Eagles and Hurts' agent said the quarterback has deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, is being treated with blood thinners and is reportedly out for the season.
The union demanded a full investigation Tuesday, saying the facts must be established even as multiple outlets reported the NFL does not plan to discipline Philadelphia.
