Florida Attorney Arrested Over Threats to Kill ICE Agents While Seeking Gun and Pepper Spray

Q: Will the arrested Florida attorney face a decade behind bars for her shocking threats against law enforcement?

Yes—but only as a maximum possible penalty, not a guaranteed sentence. Federal authorities said Lisa White is expected to be charged with threatening a federal official, described in reports as influencing, impeding or retaliating against a federal official by threat. The statute cited in the reporting can carry up to 10 years in federal prison if she is convicted. That does not mean she will automatically serve 10 years. Prosecutors must first formally file the charge, then prove the case in court or secure a guilty plea. If she is convicted, the actual sentence would be decided by a judge after considering the federal sentencing guidelines, the facts of the case, White’s background, and any aggravating or mitigating factors. According to the complaint, investigators say White told gun-store employees she wanted a firearm to kill ICE agents, asked whether a gun could penetrate ballistic vests, and said she would target an agent’s head or limbs if necessary. Employees refused the sale and alerted authorities, leading to her arrest in Long Beach, Mississippi. Reporting also indicates she could face additional penalties beyond prison, including a fine of up to $250,000, up to three years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment. So the short answer is that she could face a decade behind bars, but only if the charge is filed and she is convicted, and even then the judge could impose a lesser sentence.

Lisa White, a Florida attorney living in Mississippi, was arrested in Long Beach after authorities said she threatened to kill ICE agents while trying to buy a firearm and pepper spray.
Sept. 23 at a Mississippi gun store, White allegedly asked whether pistols could penetrate ballistic vests and said she would shoot agents in the head if their armor held, according to a criminal complaint.
Store employees refused the sale after White looked at two pistols, alerted authorities, and HSI agents later located and arrested her; she remained in custody as prosecutors prepared a federal threat charge.
ICE said the case comes amid rising threats against its personnel, citing increases of more than 1,600% in assaults, 3,300% in vehicle attacks and 8,000% in death threats, without giving underlying totals.
