Nobody Wants This Returns for Season 3 as David Tennant Joins Time

Q: What dark secret is David Tennant's character hiding in the brutal new season of the prison drama Time?

David Tennant’s character, prison officer Bobby Bailey, is hiding that he knows more than the authorities about the tragedy at the young offender institution and has been struggling over whether to tell the truth or protect a colleague. The material around *Time* Season 3 makes clear that Bailey is burdened by inside knowledge about the “major incident” that drives the season. BBC promotional copy says he “knows more about the circumstances that led to this major incident,” while Tennant himself said Bailey is left in a position where he “knows more than the authorities do” and must decide whether to be honest or “defend his mate.” That secret is tied to guilt, cover-up and moral compromise. Coverage and reviews indicate Bailey is concealing what happened in the run-up to the prison tragedy and wrestling with whether to expose the truth about responsibility inside the institution. In short, the dark secret is not a hidden past but his present-day knowledge of what really led to the deadly incident — and his silence about it.

Q: How does a polished lifestyle CEO become entangled in a deadly murder investigation on the latest episode of Elsbeth?

She becomes entangled because Elsbeth’s new case centers on the murder of a former pop star, and the investigation turns toward the victim’s sister, Winter Redgrave, a sleek lifestyle-brand CEO played by Jemima Kirke. In Thursday’s episode, “Consciously Unsistered,” Elsbeth probes a bitter sibling rivalry between the slain singer and Winter. The available episode details indicate that Winter’s carefully curated corporate image is threatened by deep family conflict, and related coverage says her sister had become a danger to that polished world by challenging her power, including a possible corporate takeover. That is what pulls the CEO into the murder investigation: not a random connection, but a direct family and business clash with the victim. As Elsbeth examines the sisters’ feud, Winter moves from polished public figure to prime suspect in a classic Elsbeth-style case built around an elite New Yorker whose image may hide something darker. The episode airs Thursday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and streams on Paramount+, with Christine Ebersole also appearing as Elsbeth’s mother, Lydia.
