Summary
Four Texas State University Phi Delta Theta pledges were arrested Tuesday on misdemeanor hazing charges after police said they forced an 18-year-old fraternity member into a blue pickup truck in San Marcos.
10:40 p.m. calls reported men shoving another man into the truck; a probable-cause affidavit said his mouth was taped shut and he was screaming for help and to be let go.
Arrested were William Oldner, 19, Noah Lara, 20, Tyler Fogg, 18, and Wyatt Carr, 18, after officers found the truck at the Arba Apartments and linked the incident to a fraternity initiation tradition.
The 18-year-old was not injured, and those involved told officers the episode was part of a longstanding ritual.
Phi Delta Theta said it is gathering information and cooperating with Texas State University and local law enforcement, while stressing it does not condone conduct that endangers others.
