Summary
Trump arrived at Southwest Florida International Airport on Friday and spoke with Gov. Ron DeSantis before heading to FGCU’s Alico Arena for a 2 p.m. rally.
Byron Donalds, the Republican gubernatorial candidate Trump is backing, took the stage ahead of the president as Republicans push to sustain momentum less than two weeks before the Nov. 3 midterms.
Dr. Mehmet Oz and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also appeared before Trump’s remarks, joining Florida Republican candidates and party officials already addressing the crowd.
The Fort Myers stop puts a national spotlight on Florida’s governor’s race between Donalds and Democrat David Jolly, whose campaign just received a $1 million boost from the Democratic Governors Association.
