Summary
NLPC asked the FEC, IRS, U.S. Attorney’s Office and Florida attorney general to investigate Florida Senate candidate Angie Nixon over alleged nonprofit misuse and campaign-finance violations days before the Nov. 3 election.
The complaint centers on Nixon’s now-defunct Moxie Group, citing $210,000 in 2024 expenses labeled “other,” including $42,560 and $68,304 program-service payments that it says were not properly itemized.
NLPC also alleges overlap between the nonprofit and Nixon’s for-profit Café Resistance business, saying the charity’s registration was transferred to her company and that fundraising may have continued after the board voted to disband on Dec. 15, 2025.
Campaign use of Café Resistance is the fourth issue: NLPC says the shop hosted phone-banking, while Nixon’s campaign says it used only the parking lot, made no payments to the café and that Nixon left the nonprofit in December 2025.
The filing lands as Nixon, a Democratic state lawmaker backed by the DSA, tries to unseat Republican Sen. Ashley Moody in an uphill Florida Senate race.
