Kathleen Kennedy will oversee ceremonies and content for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and Paralympics, taking charge of all four marquee events.
Peter Rice’s move this week to become Netflix’s chief content officer created the opening; he will still stay involved with LA28 as an executive producer.
July 14 and July 30 are the dates for the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies Kennedy will lead, followed by the Paralympic ceremonies on Aug. 15 and Aug. 27.
Kennedy left Lucasfilm at the end of 2025 after 14 years, bringing blockbuster franchise experience from Star Wars, Indiana Jones and decades of work with Steven Spielberg to LA28.
