Summary
Google began taking enrollments Tuesday for a Play Store program that lets third-party app stores offer one-tap installation instead of the usual multi-step sideloading flow.
Accepted developers get installs without secondary system confirmation screens, plus progress indicators and automatic updates; joining the voluntary program requires an annual fee.
Aptoide Games is currently the only third-party store available through Google Play, with Google positioning the new enrollment path to bring in more alternatives.
The rollout has started outside the US and stems from Google's settlement with Epic Games after their antitrust fight forced broader access for rival app stores on Android.
