WhatsApp Rolls Out 4 Group Chat Tools to Surface Mentions and Pin Messages Forever
3 articles · Updated · Gizbot · Oct 30
Summary
WhatsApp is rolling out four group-chat features aimed at users buried under unread messages, led by a filter that surfaces unread conversations with direct replies, @mentions or @all tags.
The update also adds group-only status posts that disappear after 24 hours, letting users share updates with one specific group instead of all contacts.
Pinned messages can now stay up indefinitely, and admins or members can send recent chat history to someone even after they have already joined the group.
WhatsApp said the shared message history remains end-to-end encrypted, and the features are appearing gradually through app updates over the next few days.
