Nexus Mods Mandates AI Disclosure for New Uploads, Giving Authors 60 Days to Update Existing Mods

Summary
Nexus Mods will now require every new mod upload to declare whether AI was used, and AI-assisted mods must add a public explanation of how and where it was involved.
60 days of grace will be given for existing mods to comply, with enforcement starting January 2 after the site said users had repeatedly complained that AI use was not clearly disclosed.
More prominent AI labels are being added to mod pages, and users are getting controls to hide AI-generated content on game pages and the homepage, with search filters planned next.
Nexus Mods said it is "pro-human creativity" but will not ban AI-made mods, arguing AI tools now span everything from script autocompletion to textures, voices and full assets.
The platform also said it will not use mods to train AI and is tightening Recently Added rules—limiting how many uploads from one author appear at once and restricting new accounts more heavily.
