Summary
Side-by-side 4K tests at Arri’s Los Angeles studio found Honor’s Magic9 Pro Max footage closely matched the Alexa Mini LF in color, dynamic range and low-light scenes.
Arri Cinema mode drives that result with 10-bit LogC3 capture, up to 4K 60fps recording, 14 preinstalled Arri Looks and access to 87 downloadable LUTs.
The phone’s imaging stack centers on Arri-tuned dual 200MP cameras and Honor’s H1 chip, which claims 14 stops of dynamic range, an 8dB signal-to-noise gain and CIPA 8.0 stabilization.
Honor also adds filmmaking hardware touches including a four-mic array, optional 200mm and 500mm teleconverters, and a SmallRig expansion kit for handles, filters and cooling.
The review says the partnership goes beyond branding and could make the globally launching Magic9 Pro Max one of the strongest Android phones yet for serious video creators.
