Madden Cast Fields Turducken Questions at Premiere as Sienna Miller Says 1 Co-Star Ate It

Q: Did the cast of Madden actually consume the legendary turducken, or was it just a clever promotional stunt?

It was not just a promotional bit, but the cast’s experience with the turducken was mixed. Based on the cast’s own comments while promoting *Madden*, Sienna Miller clearly said she ate some of the turducken, and she added that Kathryn Hahn did as well. Julian Edelman said he had never tried it, though he wanted to. Nicolas Cage said he handled the dish while recreating John Madden’s Thanksgiving routine, but he did not explicitly say he ate it. Christian Bale treated the subject jokingly, raising food-safety concerns rather than confirming he tasted it. So the evidence suggests that at least some cast members actually consumed the famous dish, while others either did not or left it unclear. That makes the exchange more than a clever publicity stunt, even if it also plainly served the film’s promotional campaign. The discussion fit naturally into the movie’s rollout because turducken is one of John Madden’s most recognizable cultural trademarks, tied to his Thanksgiving broadcasts and broader football legacy. In that sense, the moment was both genuine and useful publicity: some of the cast really did eat it, and the story also helped generate buzz for the film.

Sienna Miller said at the “Madden” premiere that she and Kathryn Hahn ate backup turducken used around the film, making them the only cast members cited as having actually tried it.
Nicolas Cage, who plays John Madden, did not say whether he had eaten turducken but said he got it on his hands while chopping one up in character.
Christian Bale, cast as Al Davis, focused on food-safety concerns around a prop bird left sitting out, while Julian Edelman said he had never had turducken but wanted to try one.
The exchange played off Madden’s long-running association with the chicken-in-duck-in-turkey dish, a Thanksgiving staple he helped popularize.
