Summary
Robert Garcia, set to chair House Oversight next year, said Democrats "won't be intimidated" and will pursue an "aggressive" investigative agenda despite DOJ threats.
Todd Blanche warned Oversight Democrats should be "very worried" after Trump directed the Justice Department to examine Democratic threats of impeachment and other punishment against his administration, companies and donors.
Garcia said his panel plans to scrutinize Stephen Miller, Elon Musk, Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, arguing Miller was central to actions that were "unconstitutional, unjust, and possibly illegal."
He also said the committee is already reviewing allegations that outgoing chief of staff Susie Wiles blocked health policies to protect corporate interests, saying any role for political donations would be serious.
The clash sets up an early test of divided government as Democrats prepare to use their incoming House majority and Oversight powers against Trump's White House.
