Apple is preparing a fall Series 12 refresh centered on a real chip upgrade, longer battery life and expanded health features rather than exterior changes.
Series 9, 10 and 11 largely shared the same chip family, and the new processor is seen as key to handling more on-device tasks and future Siri AI features in watchOS 27.
Battery life is also a priority, with Apple reportedly improving component efficiency and increasing physical battery capacity as the watch adds functions such as sleep tracking.
Health upgrades may include an FDA-reviewed hypertension alert feature; the current watchOS 26 version flags a 30-day hypertension pattern but does not show blood-pressure readings.
Touch ID now appears to have been dropped, while Apple is also said to be developing a simplified Modular Ultra watch face ahead of a September unveiling with the Ultra 4.
