Democrats Seize 9-Point Economy Lead in Fox Poll as Trump Gets 33% Approval

Fox News' July 17-20 poll found Democrats leading Republicans 54% to 45% on handling the economy, their strongest advantage on the issue since July 2006.
Rising costs drove the shift: 54% of registered voters said the economy will worsen over the next year, while inflation, affordability and household finances remained top concerns.
Trump's economic ratings were especially weak, with 33% approving and 67% disapproving; his overall job approval stood at 39% against 61% disapproval.
The same survey also gave Democrats a 53% to 46% edge on the generic House ballot, suggesting economic dissatisfaction is spilling into the 2026 midterm map.
Other recent polls pointed the same way, with broad pessimism about economic conditions and even some Republican voters reporting weaker personal finances during Trump's second term.
