A 36-pack booster box topped the analyst’s recommendations for Mega Evolution: Pitch Black, with booster bundles ranked second and Elite Trainer Boxes third after more than 50 packs were opened.
The ranking focused on pack value and hit potential: the analyst said booster boxes should deliver several hits, while six-pack booster bundles often align with the set’s roughly one Illustration Rare per six packs.
Elite Trainer Boxes were pitched as the best entry point for new players because they include 9 packs in the regular version or 11 in the Pokemon Center edition, plus sleeves, dice and energy cards.
Build & Battle Boxes placed fourth for players who want a ready-to-use 40-card deck and 4 packs, while three-pack blisters and single loose packs were rated lower despite their lower upfront cost.
Pitch Black launched with a relatively lean product lineup, and the Build & Battle Box arrived later than the initial release, debuting at the end of July 2026.
