Ryan Garcia Smashes Joe Hendry With Guitar on WWE Raw as Sept. 12 Benn Fight Nears

Q: Was Ryan Garcia’s guitar attack on WWE Raw a one-night stunt, or the start of a bigger role with The Judgment Day?

It looks more like a short-term crossover angle than the start of a sustained WWE role. On Raw, Garcia clearly was used to advance WWE’s existing storyline between The Judgment Day and Joe Hendry and Danhausen ahead of SummerSlam, where Dominik Mysterio is already booked to face Danhausen. His guitar shot fit that feud, and the segment ended without any clear confirmation that Garcia had formally joined the group beyond that one appearance. The biggest factor is Garcia’s boxing schedule. He is due back in the ring for a major WBC welterweight title fight against Conor Benn on Sept. 12 in Las Vegas, a bout that has now been widely reported and promoted. With a championship defense approaching, there is little evidence he is about to take on a larger week-to-week WWE commitment. There is also a business reason for the cameo. Garcia’s fight promotion is tied into Zuffa Boxing and TKO-linked interests, making a WWE appearance a logical cross-promotional move to raise his visibility before the Benn fight. That makes the Raw segment look more like celebrity integration and promotion than a long-term faction storyline. That said, WWE left the door open. Garcia posed with Judgment Day after the attack, and reports before Raw suggested WWE wanted to establish some connection between him and the faction. But based on what is known now, the safer reading is that this was a one-night or very limited appearance unless WWE revisits it after his boxing obligations.

Los Angeles Raw turned into a boxing crossover when Ryan Garcia jumped the barricade, smashed a guitar over Joe Hendry and stood tall with Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh of The Judgment Day.
The appearance appeared designed to promote Garcia’s Sept. 12 WBC welterweight title defense against Conor Benn at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, a bout co-promoted by Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing.
Garcia had first been shown at ringside with his wife and daughter before joining Hendry and Danhausen’s in-ring segment, then betraying Hendry as The Judgment Day rushed in for the beatdown.
The WWE cameo is widely seen as a one-off rather than a storyline run, extending the company’s use of celebrity appearances to plug major outside events.
