Poland signed the EU joint procurement agreement, clearing the legal hurdle to compete for one of seven AI gigafactory projects under the bloc’s new programme.
A medium-scale Polish bid would start with at least 25,000 AI accelerators and later expand to 75,000, giving businesses, researchers and public institutions access to advanced computing capacity.
More than 10 billion zloty (€2.3 billion) in investment could be drawn in, with Poland and the EU each set to buy 17% of the facility’s computing power while a private consortium sells the rest commercially.
Warsaw has already committed over 400 million zloty to join the programme and pledged €100 million of AI service purchases for 2028-2033; contracts are due in early 2027 and operations in 2028.
The government will not preselect a site, leaving the winning consortium to choose from 10 identified locations as Poland also lines up regional demand from the Czech Republic and Lithuania.
