Images from Washington showed an iPhone 17 Pro recovered after falling from a plane with its screen and outer casing intact and the device still working normally.
Experts said a protective case and the ground where it landed likely absorbed much of the impact, helping the phone avoid the destruction such a drop would usually cause.
The phone was later found on the ground and returned to its owner, while the incident spread widely on social media and revived debate over smartphone durability.
The case echoes reports from Saskatchewan days earlier of another iPhone 17 Pro surviving a roughly 1.1km fall, though specialists said such outcomes remain exceptional.
