Police say the consignment was most likely flown in from across the India-Pakistan border by a Pakistan-linked drone network and dropped at a pre-decided pickup point in Bikaner’s Khajuwala sector, in the 8 KYD/6 BD border belt. Investigators believe the heroin was Afghan in origin—described in some reports as high-purity “999 Marka” heroin bearing the Helmand mark—and moved through Pakistan before being pushed into India as part of a narco-arms route increasingly using drones to evade border fencing and patrols. The seizure fits a wider pattern seen in Rajasthan and Punjab, where smugglers use drones to deliver narcotics, pistols, magazines and ammunition together. Officials said the Bikaner consignment included 10 kg of heroin, 11 foreign-made weapons, 22 magazines and 100 cartridges, suggesting an organised cross-border network rather than a standalone drug drop. The man allegedly waiting to collect and move the consignment onward to Punjab was Virendra Singh, whom police detained at the spot. Reports identify him as having arrived on a motorcycle to receive the payload. Some accounts describe him as a resident of Jodhpur, while another report said he was from Pali district; police have not publicly resolved that discrepancy. Investigators are now examining his phone records, financial links and contacts to identify the larger syndicate, including suspected handlers on the Pakistan side and intended receivers in Punjab.
