The bigger caution is that this ranking measures **nominal wages converted to dollars**, not what workers can actually buy at home. It does not account for purchasing power, inflation, taxes, or different wage systems across countries. For Nigeria especially, inflation and naira depreciation can sharply erode real income even if the minimum wage is raised. In practical terms, weak currency explains much of the poor dollar ranking, but low wage policy and weak real wage protection also matter.
