Mafia: The Old Country Adds August 14 Expansion as Free Ride Gains 5 New Challenge Types

The “dark secrets” of winter 1905 are not fully spelled out yet, but Hangar 13 has made clear they center on Ennio Salieri’s murky early criminal climb in Sicily: his release from prison, his effort to reclaim what he believes is his, and the old scores, betrayals, and rackets he survives before emigrating to America. In the Man of Honor expansion, Salieri appears as a younger, more reckless operator than the Don seen in the original Mafia. The new chapters place him alongside Enzo Favara during a one-year gap in the base game, when Enzo is already a made man in the Torrisi family. Salieri is described as feared and respected, but still hustling for his share of the family’s business, using schemes, smuggling, and violence to build influence in Valle Dorata. Developers say the DLC is meant to reveal parts of Salieri’s past that even longtime series players do not know. His driving ambition is already to reach America, and that goal appears to shape both his criminal choices and his relationship with Enzo. Hangar 13 has also suggested Salieri serves as a foil to Enzo: less honorable, more opportunistic, and willing to exploit shifting loyalties, including his influence over Cesare Massaro. So the setup for Salieri’s legendary rise is a winter marked by prison fallout, revenge, underworld maneuvering, and the first visible signs of the ambition that will eventually carry him from Sicily to power in Lost Heaven.

August 14 will bring Man of Honor to PS5, PC and Xbox Series X, with Hangar 13 positioning the DLC as a major upgrade to Mafia: The Old Country’s thin open-world Free Ride mode.
Salieri drives much of that overhaul, handing out side jobs and unlocking five challenge types across Sicily: standoffs, assassinations, circuit races, time trials and road sprints.
Sicily also gets activities outside Salieri’s missions, letting players hunt outlaws, complete stunt jumps and earn Dinari for weapons, charms, vehicles and outfits for Enzo.
The expansion builds on last November’s Free Ride update, pushing the game’s sandbox closer to rivals like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 while preserving Mafia’s story-led focus.
