Three April 2025 U.S. strikes in Yemen were judged by CENTCOM to have "more likely than not" caused civilian casualties, according to a response sent to Sen. Elizabeth Warren after a review of dozens of attacks.
NBC reported the first two strikes likely killed 150 civilians and wounded 200 more; sources could not give clear figures for the third attack.
The finding undercuts the Pentagon's earlier insistence that Operation Rough Rider — a 53-day campaign launched by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth — caused no noncombatant deaths or injuries.
Democratic lawmakers have been pressing the Defense Department for answers for months, while Amnesty International accused the White House and Pentagon of evading public accounting and gutting civilian-harm prevention programs.
The Pentagon said it had no announcement now and would submit its 2025 casualty report in coming months, as scrutiny widens over U.S. strikes in Yemen and a separate attack on a school in Iran.
