Summary
Maryland rolled out a mobile searchable tool linking SNAP recipients to job-training providers statewide, part of a push to help residents keep benefits while finding work.
The state now works with 46 SNAP Employment and Training providers in 2026—a 48% expansion—and has committed up to $30 million to free programs and supports such as transportation, work clothing and résumé help.
Officials said the expanded network is meant to help recipients meet stricter federal food-assistance eligibility rules; Maryland also texted 14,000 people who lost benefits over new paperwork requirements to urge them to reapply.
More than 289,000 Marylanders have used the state's One Application system for SNAP, and the administration said Maryland's enrollment decline has been less severe than in many states as H.R. 1 takes effect.
The broader outreach also includes EMV chip-and-tap EBT cards—making Maryland the fourth state to deploy the fraud-resistant technology statewide.
