Modders Unlock Full Windows Desktop on GeForce NOW, Running Gemma 4 at 41 TPS

Zortos and dpadGuy showed GeForce NOW sessions exposing a full Windows desktop—taskbar, icons and app launching—by bypassing NVIDIA’s normal game-only interface.
The method, published July 31, uses Trove through a paid GeForce NOW membership: users exploit Steam session access, swap an executable and trigger the cloud PC to open Windows instead of returning to the game.
Gemma 4 31B ran inside the hacked session at 41 tokens per second, though the setup is constrained by session time limits, blocked downloads, resets between sessions and reports that File Explorer can force closures.
NVIDIA does not support any desktop mode on GeForce NOW, and its terms ban unauthorized access, software downloads and service modification; some users said Trove had already disappeared or the workaround was patched.
