Apple says iOS 27 supports the same devices as iOS 26, including iPhone 11 and later, and reports point to faster app launches, quicker AirDrop and file transfers, more efficient search indexing, smoother networking transitions, and a faster Photos app. Apple’s own testing has also cited measurable speed improvements on older hardware. The catch is that compatibility is not the same as feature parity. The most important new AI features, including Siri AI and broader Apple Intelligence tools, require newer hardware, generally iPhone 15 Pro or later, with the most advanced on-device AI features reserved for even newer models such as iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air. So an iPhone 11 or 12 should still feel better on iOS 27, but mainly through polish, speed, and bug fixes, not through the full AI upgrade.
