Google Skips August 2026 Patch for 6 Pixel 6 and 7 Models

Summary
Six Pixel 6 and 7 models were still missing Google’s August 2026 security update six days after release, leaving those phones on July build CP2A.260705.006.
Google’s August patch—build CP2A.260805.005—includes CVE-2026-0163, a high-severity elevation-of-privilege flaw in the video processing unit that skipped devices do not get through firmware.
Google’s own support pages still list the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, 7, 7 Pro and 7a as supported, even though the forum post says all supported Android 17 Pixel devices should receive the update.
The gap fits an uneven pattern: Pixel 6 and 7 models were also skipped in February and May, while June and July updates reached all supported devices and Google has not explained any schedule.
Support windows still run to October 2026 for Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, July 2027 for 6a, October 2027 for 7 and 7 Pro, and May 2028 for 7a, though Google only promises years of coverage—not monthly patches.
