County Wexford will get a new employment support office for Travellers and Roma under a nationwide expansion of the Traveller and Roma Local Employment Initiative pilot scheme.
Minister for Equality Norma Foley said the rollout doubles the number of offices, with Wexford Local Development chosen to run the hub and seven other new offices planned.
Census 2022 data underpins the expansion: Traveller unemployment stood at 61%, while the Roma unemployment rate was 17%.
Waterford, Offaly and Longford will each get one office, while Limerick and Dublin will get two each; the department said locations were picked based on local population size and need.
