Summary
Five suspects were booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility after a three-day undercover operation in early August targeted people accused of using the internet to solicit minors for sex.
The multi-agency sting involved the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, four local police departments, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Colorado State Patrol, the district attorney’s office and Homeland Security Investigations.
Alex Knoll, 37, of Grand Junction faced the broadest set of charges, including internet luring, sexual exploitation, pandering and human trafficking of a minor; his bond was set at $100,000 cash-only.
The other four suspects — ages 33 to 72 from Grand Junction, Aspen and Basalt — faced charges including soliciting commercial sexual activity with a child, sexual assault on a child and criminal attempt, with bonds ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.
