Onslow County deputies arrested 44-year-old Stanley Shockley on Monday over an Aug. 1 attack that left DoorDash driver Christen Phillips hospitalized with a serious brain injury.
Investigators say the assault began in Jacksonville, North Carolina, after Phillips honked at a driver blocking an intersection; that driver allegedly followed her to a delivery stop and attacked her with a bat.
Phillips said she suffered multiple skull fractures, brain bleeds and a fractured cheekbone, then drove herself to a nearby hospital after regaining consciousness.
