Claude in Chrome now runs as a full Cowork session tied to a user account, so conversations, skills and connectors persist across desktop, web and mobile instead of resetting in the browser.
Using existing browser logins, the extension can see the current page and act inside it—click links, type text, fill forms and move between pages—letting Claude work across internal dashboards, legacy systems and vendor portals.
Anthropic paired that automation with a new check that compares consequential actions against the user’s original request before execution, while still requiring permission for purchases or sharing personal information.
The update is live for Max and Team plans now, Pro access is due in coming weeks, and Enterprise admins can enable it selectively by domain.
The move extends Anthropic’s broader push to make Claude more web-capable, including an in-app browser for Claude Code, while addressing prompt-injection risks highlighted by recent security research.
