The redesign adds 5G, a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chip, 8GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, and upgraded hardware including 50MP and 20MP cameras, a 3,000mAh battery, and wireless charging.
Minimal is betting a smaller screen, keyboard input and purpose-built software can still curb distraction even without the slower, deliberately restrictive display that defined the first phone.
Its Kickstarter campaign has topped $800,000 versus a $100,000 target, but the launch also follows delays and reported display and software issues with the crowdfunded original device.
