Summary
$1.2 million in Wondermind investments is at the center of a federal suit alleging Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, Daniella Pierson and the startup misled backers about the company’s readiness, leadership and growth plans.
The complaint says promised JPMorgan and Fidelity partnerships did not exist, revenue initiatives never launched, and a flagship app was never built, even as investors were told Gomez would play a major marketing role.
The investors say they only learned of Wondermind’s “financial and operational disarray” after 2025 media reports, then were further misled when Teefey allegedly claimed an escrow account had been created to return their money.
Gomez’s lawyer called the claims “completely meritless,” while Pierson’s representative denied wrongdoing and said she never used investor funds for personal expenses; Teefey has not publicly responded.
The lawsuit deepens scrutiny of the mental-health startup, which launched in 2021 and still operates a website, newsletter and podcasts despite allegations that its larger business vision quietly collapsed.
