Rep. Nicole Malliotakis said Senate Democrats should pass the SAVE Act, arguing it would require proof of U.S. citizenship before voting and bolster confidence in election results.
Four House approvals have not moved the bill through the Senate, and Malliotakis singled out Chuck Schumer for blocking it despite saying Democrats tell constituents they support voter ID.
More than 80% of Americans want voter ID, Malliotakis said, casting Democratic opposition as out of step with voters across party and racial lines.
Malliotakis also accused New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani of hypocrisy, saying his city programs have required photo identification even as he opposes voter ID rules.
