4 House Democrats Amend GOP Anti-Socialist Resolution to Strip SAVE America Act Clause

Summary
Four conservative House Democrats — Josh Gottheimer, Jared Moskowitz, Hillary Scholten and Tom Suozzi — proposed an amendment that keeps condemnation of socialism and the DSA but removes the GOP’s SAVE America Act language.
The move answered a Republican resolution introduced last week by Rep. Jeff Crank that denounces socialism, targets DSA candidates including Zohran Mamdani, and also urges passage of the voting bill.
Democrats backing the amendment said the SAVE America provision was a poison pill that would block broader support for what is otherwise a symbolic anti-socialism measure.
Republicans on the House Rules Committee advanced the resolution without the Democratic amendment, setting up a floor vote that could come as soon as Tuesday.
Some Democrats may still back the unamended measure: Jared Golden said he will probably vote for it, while Henry Cuellar declined to say how he would vote.
