Islam Makhachev enters Saturday’s UFC 330 main event in Philadelphia tied with Anderson Silva on 16 straight UFC wins, with Ian Machado Garry standing between him and the record.
Garry brings a 10-1 UFC mark and recent wins over Belal Muhammad and Carlos Prates, fueling upset talk despite Makhachev’s status as welterweight champion, former lightweight champion and pound-for-pound No. 1.
Analysts still lean toward Makhachev, pointing to his wrestling, timing and defense as the likeliest tools to neutralize Garry’s long-range striking over five rounds.
