Scottie Scheffler could become the PGA Tour’s all-time leading money winner as soon as next week at the BMW Championship. After winning the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Scheffler’s official career earnings rose to about $119.96 million, leaving him roughly $1.04 million behind Tiger Woods’ $121.0 million. Because the BMW Championship is another FedExCup playoff event with a $20 million purse, Scheffler would only need to earn more than about $1.04 million there to move past Woods. That means the timing depends entirely on his finish. A victory would do it easily, and so would several other high finishes given the size of the playoff payouts. If he does not clear the mark at the BMW, he would have an even bigger chance at the Tour Championship, where the bonus pool counts as official money and offers far more than enough to erase the gap. So there is no fixed date yet, but the most likely answer is during the FedExCup postseason — potentially at the BMW Championship, and almost certainly by the Tour Championship if he continues playing at anything close to his current level.

Scheffler’s victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship guaranteed he will remain No. 1 in the FedExCup standings through the BMW Championship, securing a $23 million bonus before the TOUR Championship.
The payout stems from the PGA Tour’s 2025 overhaul of the FedExCup finale, which scrapped starting strokes and shifted nearly $100 million in bonus money to reward season-long standings before Atlanta.
Second place after the BMW Championship will earn $13 million, third $8 million, and 30th $460,000, with bonus payments extending through No. 125 in the points race.
Next week’s 30-man TOUR Championship at East Lake still carries a separate $40 million purse, with the winner collecting another $10 million along with the FedExCup title.
