Pokémon GO Adds Cramorant With 3-Form PvP Mechanic, Punishing Charged Attacks

Summary
Cramorant’s Pokémon GO debut adds a battle-only form system: Surf or Dive shifts it from Normal into Gulping above 50% HP or Gorging below 50% HP.
Each transformed state punishes an opponent’s Charged Attack with chip damage plus a debuff—Gulping cuts Defense by 1 stage, while Gorging slashes Attack by 2 stages.
Key interactions make the mechanic unusually sticky: shields do not reset Cramorant’s form, its counterattack still triggers if it faints, and only switching out returns it to Normal.
The Flying/Water-type has max CP 2421 and a double weakness to Electric, but its practical PvP impact is still unclear because it is currently ineligible for Competitors Cup and unusable in raids or gyms.
Cramorant arrived during Ultra Unlock: Water Festival 2026, which began August 18 after Niantic had already announced the species alongside Arrokuda.
