The bigger issue is storage. Switch 2 has 256GB built in, but only about 249GB is actually usable after system files. Modern AAA titles already eat into that quickly, and Diablo 4 on other platforms has ranged roughly from 45GB to 90GB depending on content and updates. That means many buyers may not need extra storage for Diablo 4 alone on day one, but they are very likely to need it if they keep several large games installed. The problem is that Switch 2 game storage requires microSD Express, not a standard microSD card. Older cards may fit, but they are not the proper solution for installing and running Switch 2 games at full performance. That turns storage expansion into a meaningful extra purchase. Current market examples show 256GB microSD Express cards selling anywhere from about $48 on discount to around $84, 512GB cards near $98 to $149, and 1TB cards far higher, often above $200. In practice, 512GB looks like the most realistic sweet spot for players building a digital library. So the warning is fair: Diablo 4 itself may fit, but for many Switch 2 owners the true entry price is not just the game. It is the game plus a still-premium microSD Express card.
