Blizzard used its 75-minute BlizzCon opening ceremony to confirm an open-world StarCraft first-person shooter, simply titled StarCraft, with a 2030 release target.
Dan Hay, formerly of Ubisoft's Far Cry team, presented the project after months of rumors; Blizzard showed only a cinematic of Terran soldiers battling Zerg and gave no gameplay details.
Blizzard also said a Diablo animated series is in development with Netflix, while president Johanna Faries hinted Overwatch, Warcraft and possibly other universes could get adaptations.
Heroes of the Storm got a revival signal with new hero Xal'atath arriving September 28 and Blizzard teasing another character later, broadening the convention's focus beyond StarCraft.
