Charlamagne Urges Democrats to Drop WNBA Trans Debate Before 2026 Midterms

Charlamagne said Democrats were foolish to revisit the transgender-athlete fight so close to the 2026 midterm elections, after Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham was asked whether “biological males” should play in the WNBA.
On comments shared by Jason Cohen on X, he said he did not know why Cunningham got the question, but argued the answer should simply be “No” and broadly agreed with her stance.
Cunningham’s remarks have kept the issue alive across the league and online, where she has drawn backlash and was recently banned from the WNBA subreddit.
The dispute has already prompted a WNBA meeting on transgender-athlete eligibility, but the league made no rule changes, while former NBA players Enes Kanter and Royce White said they would enter the 2027 WNBA draft.
