Nine marquee primaries Tuesday are being shaped by Ron DeSantis’ Florida map redraw, which opened safer Republican seats and pushed several Democrats into tougher or newly configured contests.
In Florida’s governor and Senate races, Trump-backed Rep. Byron Donalds is favored for the GOP nomination, while Democrat Alexander Vindman has raised more than $16 million against Angie Nixon’s less than $1 million.
The new map also scrambled House contests: Debbie Wasserman Schultz moved into the safely Democratic 20th District, while Jared Moskowitz chose to defend a 25th District Trump carried by 9 points.
Florida’s 19th District has become an open-seat brawl after Donalds left, with Trump endorsing Catalina Lauf over better-known rivals including Madison Cawthorn and former Rep. Chris Collins.
Beyond Florida, the primary slate includes Wyoming’s open House race, Alaska’s top-four Senate primary, and a California runoff where Aisha Wahab led June voting 43% to 17% over Melissa Hernandez.
